When speech is enabled, texts are, unfortunately, not displayed. To have the text always displayed, apply ALLTEXT.DAT. Some of the characters have a pronounciation that is hard to understand without seeing it in text form.
The ORIGINAL.DAT patch changes the executable back to its original state.
To apply a patch, execute "patch tentacle.exe <patch-file>".
